Wind in the hair, hands on her hips, chin up in pride, a casual smile on her lips. She is standing up to the raging bull on Wall Street. I don’t know if she has a name yet. People call here ‘the fearless girl’.
This statue was put up on Women’s Day. She is strategically placed opposite the famous raging bull statue in New York – standing brave and defiant and all.
A little inspiration goes a long way in our fight for what is rightfully ours – a good life!
Over the last one week I have been reading a few interesting articles about women.
A beautiful nuanced story about stuntswomen in Bollywood who fought poverty by making a mark in a male dominated industry. And then another sensational one on why women willingly marry into the Boko Haram tribe, make certain conscious choices and live the war life in Africa.
My simple take away was that, all of us irrespective of our gender, race, nationality and faith seem to have our own challenges. And we make our choices and live the consequences.
“Freedom is never granted. It is always won” – said someone famous.Apparently one has to wrest it from the hands of the oppressors.
In your pursuit to financial freedom, it is the need to keepup with the Joneses, imprudence, inflation, procrastination, fear, life’suncertainties and greed that are these oppressors. They won’t allow you to be free.
Stand up to them and stare them all down.
May this little defiant girl inspire us all!
Wishing you a very successful year closing 2016-17.
