3 things you need to do before quitting your job

Are you planning to quit your job and retire already?

Do this 3 things before you actually put in your papers?

Number 1: Retire to… not Retire from

I know… Bosses can be a pain, the commute to work, office politics, having a schedule that you don’t make can all drive you up the wall. You may want to quit because you’ve had enough.

We know from various researches conducted even over drug addicts that positive motivation has a longer resilience than decisions made out of fear and frustration.

I encourage you to do this activity.

Identify long lost passions, causes that you care for but didn’t do much about and hobbies they couldn’t pursue due to work schedules did not permit you.

Fill in a blank weekly calendar, hour by hour.

Seeing that schedule gives you a realistic idea of your commitments, provides specific events to look forward to, and prevents aimlessness.

That way your retirement can be a lot more enjoyable even after the honeymoon 60 - 90 days are over.

Number 2: Have a Back Up plan

What if everything fails?

Now, pardon me for this pessimism. I know, you don’t put everything behind plan A, if you have plan B and all that emotional stuff. But this is not emotional decision. Because retiring early can have long lasting impact on your financial, physical and emotional health. So we better be clear here.

What if things go bad and it doesn’t work out as you plan.

Can you just go back to work?

What if you can't get your job back?

Can you scale down on your lifestyle?

Can you sale of your home?

Can you move places?

What is the Backup plan?

Even I, nobody intense to fail in an early retirement plan. But it’s a good idea to have a clear backup.

My husband and I have a backup plan to. If everything goes bad than we probably go back to our jobs but if that what comes to be than we know we had it really really bad.

Number 3: Top up all your insurances

One think that can seriously derail your retirement plans is falling sick. Well, not just retirement plans it can derail anything but that’s something you’d like to avoid when you don’t have a corporate set up to back you or a generous insurance to cover you. So, top up all your insurances – your health, your disability, your accidental everything.

And that's it! The freedom to choose what we do with our time each and every day is a great thing and a wonderful feeling. If you do these three things before quitting your job, your chances increase of living out an amazing early retirement, stress-free and happy.
